The Robert B. Plunkett Memorial Educational Trust was founded in 1989 to help offset the rapidly rising costs of college education.  Since its founding, the Plunkett Trust has provided scholarships to the undergraduate Brothers of Alpha Iota Delta at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

As of 2022, seven Chi Psi Brothers serve on the Board of Directors and oversee the day-to-day operations.

The Trust currently has two main scholarships. The first is the Plunkett Scholarship, which is the main scholarship awarded by the Trust. It is awarded to an upperclassman of Alpha Iota Delta. The second is the Bryan scholarship. This is awarded to an incoming freshman selected by the Active Members of Alpha Iota Delta without any requirement that the recipient pledge Chi Psi.
