Sam Bessey, HΔ ’97, Executive Director (#23)

Originally from San Francisco, Sam Bessey lives in Nashville, TN with his wife Meg, daughter Evelyn, and son Matthew. He has been on staff at the Central Office since July of 1998 when he served as Alpha Visitor for the 1998-1999 school year. He then served as Development Director for three years before becoming #23 and joining the Executive Council in April 2002. His responsibilities include Chi Psi’s development initiatives, strategic and annual business planning, financial management, and the Fraternity’s national housing corporation, Spencer Properties. Sam is on the board of directors for Camp Marymount, a Catholic summer camp in Fairview, TN and is a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville. He is also very active with Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville, serving in a number of different volunteer roles.




Donald Beeson, Σ 82, YΔ 86, Associate Executive Director

Donald joined the staff after graduation from the University of North Carolina, serving as an Alpha Visitor from 1982–1984. After leaving the staff, he worked in alumni affairs at UNC before returning to Chi Psi on a part-time basis in 1996 to manage Chi Psi’s risk management and insurance programs. In 2004, Donald joined the staff full-time to serve as the Associate Executive Director, and has worked with risk management, technology, development, and a variety of other tasks to assist the #23 with his responsibilities. Donald resides in Chapel Hill, NC (where he has his office) with wife Alice Glover. Their sons are both Chi Psis. Stuart is Xi Delta ’15, and John is Sigma ’21.





Kyle Phillips, ΠΔ ’16, Assistant Executive Director

Kyle joined the Central Office staff in 2016, after graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Political Science. While an undergrad, Kyle served Alpha Pi Delta as Standards Chair, Alumni Relations Chair, Vice-President and President. Kyle began his tenure at the Central Office by leading the recolonization efforts at Alpha Psi in the 2016-2017 academic year. Following that, he served as the Live-In Resident Advisor for Alpha Psi, while continuing to be an Alpha Visitor from 2017-2018. In the Fall of 2018, he assisted AJ Hannan in recolonizing the then dormant Alpha Eta Delta in Oregon, an effort he is still involved in today. Kyle then moved into the role of Alumni Engagement Coordinator, and was responsible for supporting and recruiting alpha advisory boards, establishing alumni clubs, and hosting numerous alumni gatherings around the country. He is now in a similar capacity with the title Assistant Executive Director. Away from the office, Kyle enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking, climbing, and anything outdoors. He is an avid bookworm, tinkerer, and loves live music and the Carolina Panthers.




Emily DeWitt, Director of Operations

Emily joined the Central Office in 2016. She is responsible for the oversight of administrative and financial systems including educational program management, membership record-keeping, Central Office infrastructure, accounts receivable, event planning, and the Trust scholarship and fellowship program. Emily is originally from Hartwell, GA and graduated from Clemson University in 2011 with a degree in Spanish and International Health. She is a member of the Epsilon Theta Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta. After graduating, she taught Spanish as a Teach for America Corps Member and went on to work in school leadership until 2016. She and her husband Nate moved to Nashville in 2015. In her free time, Emily is studying software development and enjoys playing tennis, baking, and learning new languages.






Steve Habat, B ’12, Director of Advancement

Steve joined the Central Office in 2015 in the role of Alumni Engagement Coordinator and assisted with the re-founding of Alpha Omicron at the University of Virginia and the establishment of Alpha Phi Delta at the University of Kentucky. In his current role, Steve oversees all development and fundraising efforts for Chi Psi and The Educational Trust. Steve graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2012, where he served as Alpha Beta’s Recruitment Chair and captain of the USC Men’s Rugby Team. Steve works from his home in Charleston, SC.








Daniel Walker, ΞΔ ’17, Director of Education & Growth

Daniel joined the Central Office in 2019. He manages the completion and revision of Chi Psi educational programming and develops the curriculum for the Mid-Year Leadership Retreat, Regional Conferences, and the Spencer Institute. He also oversees the expansion and extension efforts to campuses old and new, working with the travelling staff members to provide the best service to Alphas. A native Texan, Daniel graduated from Texas Tech University in 2017 with degrees in English and History, and then pursued and completed his Masters of Education at the University of North Texas in 2019. While at Alpha Xi Delta, he was #1 and a member of the Interfraternity Council. Daniel enjoys reading, television, video games, movies, friendly debates, and snow skiing.







Jeremy Dorn, Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Jeremy joined the Central Office in 2018. He is tasked with overseeing all marketing and communications initiatives, including editing of The Purple & Gold and managing social media. Originally from Northern 

California, Jeremy graduated from Washington State University in 2011 with degrees in Journalism and Creative Writing and then went on to work for Bleacher Report, San Francisco Magazine, and Text100 Public Relations, among others. He moved to Nashville in 2017 and now lives there with his fiancée. Outside of the office, Jeremy enjoys traveling, seeing live music, and coaching a local high school baseball team.






A.J. Hannan, N ’18, Extension Coordinator

A.J. joined the Central Office in the summer of 2018 as an Expansion Coordinator and Alpha Visitor. Over the 2018-2019 school year, he was stationed in Eugene, OR to help rebuild Alpha Eta Delta. This year, he will be helping with the recruitment efforts at Alpha Gamma, and then returning to Oregon to further assist with the Alpha’s recruitment efforts. A.J. was born and raised in Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2018, with a degree in Political Science and Business Law. During his time as an undergrad, A.J. served in many positions, including the Alpha’s #3 (External Vice President). In his free time, you can usually catch him on the lake, on the golf course, or on the hunt for the best chicken wings in America.






Adler Rosenberger, ΦΔ ’19, Extension Coordinator

Adler joined the Central Office staff in late 2019. As an Expansion Coordinator, he will primarily work on the rebuilding of Alpha Chi Delta at Clemson during the Spring 2020 semester. A native of Cincinnati, OH, Adler graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Biosystems Engineering. He was a member of the founding class at Alpha Phi Delta, where he went on to serve in various chairmen positions. Adler is currently the Secretary of Alpha Phi Delta's Alumni Advisory Board. On of Adler's favorite aspects of Chi Psi is its strong national Brotherhood, and he loves to meet fellow Brothers from all over the country. Outside of work, he enjoys rooting for UK athletics, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his friends, family, and cat, Greys.





Drew Johnson, Γ ’17, Alpha Visitor

Drew Johnson is in his second year on staff as a Visitor. Drew graduated from Ole Miss with a B.B.A. in Human Resource Management and served in many roles as an active Brother at Alpha Gamma, including as #3 his senior year. Drew has loved meeting so many Brothers from so many different Alphas in the past year, and has valued the opportunity to help those succeed in any way he can. When Drew is not traveling for the Central Office, he enjoys golf, video games, TV shows, and spending time with his fiancée. He also (usually) enjoys supporting his Ole Miss Rebels, win or lose, thick or thin, and stressing over his fantasy football lineup. Finally, he loves spending times with the Brothers of Chi Psi - undergrads and alumni alike - and is so appreciative of all of the wonderful people, memories, and opportunities this Brotherhood has given him.




Nick Warrick, Γ ’16, Alpha Visitor

Nick joined the Central Office staff in 2018. He was hired as a visitor but has also played key roles in expansion work during his time at the Central Office. Nick is originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2017 with a degree in Criminal Justice. During undergraduate, Nick was a re-founder for Alpha Gamma at Ole Miss, while also working for the Ole Miss Track and Field team during both undergraduate and graduate school. Nick served as Sergeant-at-Arms for two consecutive terms at Alpha Gamma. He moved to Oxford, MS in the fall of 2012 and still currently resides there. Outside of the office, Nick likes to travel to new places and attend sporting events.
