Another successful Convention has come to a close. Hosted by Alpha Zeta Delta at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, more than 300 Brothers joined to celebrate the Alpha’s centennial and take part in Chi Psi’s annual family reunion.

With several Fraternity leaders completing their terms of service, a number of new Brothers were elected to those positions. Current #1s Will Overton, Σ ’13, and Brian Murphy, ΥΔ ’13, were elected to serve as Undergraduate Representative on the Executive Council.

Beginning three-year terms on the Executive Council are Steve Rickmeier, EΔ ’69, and Bill Wrightsman, HΔ ’84. Br. Rickmeier lives in Lake Forest, Illinois and works as a managing member at Bowie Resources LLC. Steve also currently serves The Chi Psi Educational Trust as Annual Fund Chairman. B. Wrightsman lives in Las Vegas, Nevada where he works as an Assistant Professor in the Masters of Science/Occupational Thereapy program at Touro University.

Completing terms of service in Ann Arbor were Undergraduate Representatives Nick Huber, PΔ ’12, and Hans Minea ΘΔ ‘12, John Logan, EΔ ’89. and Council Chairman Lathrop B. Nelson, OΔ ’97. Br. Logan has served on the Executive Council since 2006 and volunteers much of his time as a Program for Excellence facilitator. John has also served on the Alpha Rho Alumni Association and was instrumental in the Alpha’s refounding in 2004. Br. Nelson has served on the Executive Council since 2006, serving as Chairman since 2011. Lathrop has also served as Chairman of the Governance Committee as well as Treasurer and President of the Alpha Omicron Delta Alumni Corporation. Chi Psi would like to thank John and Lathrop for their dedicated service.

In addition to these changes in leadership, Convention’s educational programming was very successful. Through specific tracks for #1s, #4s, Recruitment Chairmen, and alumni along with the joint session for all attendees, Spencer Institute programming provided participants with a variety of tools and resources for all areas of operation.

On Friday evening, Convention goers joined Zeta Delta Brothers of all ages in the Colonnades Club for a Centennial Celebration overlooking the Memorial Stadium football field. The celebration included an incredible historical display, a Zeta Delta group photo in front of the Red Grange statue and presentation of a number of Zeta Delta Alumni Recognition awards.

As per usual, the Convention festivities culminated with the traditional banquet on Saturday evening, where several awards were presented. The Goodbody Award went to Alpha Tau Delta, The University of the South. Alpha Chi Delta, Clemson University received the Founders Trophy, and for the second time in three years, the gentlemen of Alpha Sigma, University of North Carolina, were honored with the Thayer Trophy.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Steven L. Crow, E ‘79, Citation 145 and Harold G. Arnwine, TΔ ’86, NΔ ‘02, Citation 146.

In its entirety, the 171st Annual Convention of Chi Psi was a great time for developing greater leadership skills and strengthening the ties of Brotherhood. It was a time to look forward to Chi Psi’s exciting future and celebrate the rich tradition of our illustrious past. Don’t miss next year’s event in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. If it is anything like this year’s it is sure to be a great experience for everyone involved.
