Alpha Upsilon Delta Rides for Life

On Friday, October 22, the Alpha Upsilon Delta Brothers at Wake Forest University hosted a "Ride for Life” mechanical bull riding competition to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of America.

The tailgate-style event was held on the "Mag Quad” area of the campus and attracting many students with its sorority bull riding competition, fun music, and cornhole. Brothers grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and made barbecue for participants.

Local businesses sponsored the event, donating give-away items, and many alumni donated to the cause. The Brothers collected $2.00 per person to participate in the bull riding, and combined with donations from local businesses and money raised by active alumni, raised around $800 for juvenile diabetes research in only two hours.

Event organizer Taylor Williams, 13, said of Ride for Life, "Personally, I felt like the event was a huge success and really helped our fraternity to grow as a brotherhood and rally around a great cause, in juvenile diabetes research.” Williams commented, "Our goal was to bring the Greek community, here at Wake Forest, together and raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, we did both in a successful manner.”
