In 2011, the Chi Psi Association of Hamilton College created the Douglas C. Johnston Scholarship Fund  to benefit Hamilton undergraduates annually, honoring Doug Johnston, Φ '78, who served Alpha Phi's alumni corporation as president prior to his untimely death in 2006. Members of the Johnston family and many of Johnston's classmates were present at the event. This year, Alpha Phi alumni have awarded the Johnston Scholarship to three outstanding young Brothers:

Sawyer A. Konys, Φ '16, studies studio arts and pre-medicine at Hamilton College with a 3.75 GPA. He works for the Hamilton College Department of Studio Art as a Dark Room Monitor and Print Making Technical Aid and has also work for the College's Residential Life as an Orientation Leader. Konys has volunteered as an ESL Tutor for Project Shine. He is a member of the Hamilton College Art Collective and was Top Coxswain for the College's Men's Varsity Crew.

Steven B. Pet, Φ '12, earned his B.A. in history in 2012. He currently works as an Honors Paralegal for the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition. While at Hamilton, the former Phi #5 interned with the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project, Judge Ralph Eannace with the Utica City Court, the Dan Malloy for Governor campaign and the Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust. Pet volunteers with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and is a recipient of a number of honors and awards including the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History Fellowship. Pet plans to attend law school this fall.

Hans Lynn, Φ '17, studies government at Hamilton College. Lynn has worked as a Law Firm Staff Assisstant for Lynn, Lynn & Blackman, P.C. He has been active in planning and promoting Alpha Phi's various philanthropic and community service events and helped a Brother in the establishment of the Student Performing Arts Club, which now hosts many successful and well-attended performing arts events on campus. Lynn plans to seek a position with Hamilton's student government in the coming year.
