Chi Psi's 171st Annual Convention was an exciting time for the Alpha Tau Delta Brothers at Sewanee. The Alpha took home the Goodbody Trophy for scholastic excellence and was a finalist for the Founders Trophy, which recognizes that Alpha with the greatest overall improvement. In addition to these Alpha honors, two Brothers were awarded scholarships at The Chi Psi Educational Trust Awards Dinner.

The Goodbody Award recognizes academic achievement and excellence in Trust programming. Tau Delta's 3.409 GPA and #1 ranking among Sewanee fraternities helped them stand out among the other Goodbody finalists. Many Tau Delta Brothers are members of the Order of the Gownsmen and other academic honor societies, and during the 2011-2012 academic year, the Alpha hosted a reception for the University's new Provost, John Swallow, TΔ '89.

This campus outreach along with the Brother's involvement in a number of campus clubs and organizations also warranted the Alpha a nomination for the Founder's Trophy. With the great strides the Alpha has made, Chi Psi looks forward to seeing the many things the Brothers at Sewanee will accomplish.

Several Alpha Tau Delta Brothers also had received individual honors. The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Harold G. Arnwine, TΔ ’86, NΔ ‘02, Citation 146. At The Chi Psi Educational Trust Awards Dinner, Jamie de la Fuenta '12 and Trevor Marquand '13 were recognized as Trust scholarship recipients.

Jamie de la Fuenta received the Henry E. Bartels Fellowship, a $15,000 annual grant to fund graduate education. Jamie recently graduated with distinction in biochemistry from The University of the South with a 3.97 GPA. He will attend medical school at Vanderbilt University in the fall. The Chancellor’s Scholar is Vice President of Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Br. de la Fuente is also the recipient of the Charles Pollard Marks Memorial Scholarship, a faculty selected award which is honors one male in the junior class who exemplifies scholarship, leadership, and integrity.

Trevor Marquand received the George W. Ray Scholarship recognizing his academic performance, personal integrity and Chi Psi leadership.
