Alpha Rho of Chi Psi: How to Join
Share |
Alpha Rho of Chi Psi has been pledging gentlemen and scholars since 1879 and we consider recruitment to be one of the most important of all our activities. The continuation of the chapter’s ideals relies upon the next set of young men who will be brothers of Alpha Rho. The relatively smaller size of our chapters, or Alphas, lends itself to an extremely close Brotherhood and life-long friendships. The Brothers of Chi Psi take pride in, and support, the diversity of our members: their backgrounds, beliefs, extracurricular involvement and their fields of academic study.

Our Brotherhood is selective and thus excels in academics, leadership, philanthropy and social life. Our recruitment process holds very high standards and is looking for only the best Rutgers University undergraduate men. A Chi Psi gentleman is distinguished in virtually all aspects of life. He is a man of great integrity, honesty and loyalty.

Rutgers University sponsors a deferred recruitment, meaning that men interested in joining a fraternity must have earned at least 12 credit hours prior to joining. Just because you can’t join doesn’t mean that you can’t come over and meet the Brothers, though. We invite you to drop by the Chi Psi Lodge before, during or even after recruitment, so that you can get to know us outside the "rush" of recruitment. We try to structure our recruitment so that it is an informal and low-pressure process where you simply get to meet the Brothers and decide whether you "click" with the Fraternity. Obviously, the more events you attend the more opportunities you'll have to meet with the Brothers - the more of them you can come to the better.

Men and leaders on Campus interested in joining our bonds of brotherhood must have at least a 2.75 GPA in order to receive a bid. Aside from our GPA minimum, Alpha Rho follows the policies from our National Constitution that explains that "No man shall be denied membership in the Fraternity on the basis of his race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability status.” If you have any questions please direct them to our Recruitment Chair Phil Lubik at (860) 605 0757, or email him at
