Chi Psi Selects Kyle D. Phillips to be the Fraternity’s 15th Executive Director

Phillips’ duties begin effective immediately; former Executive Director Harold G. Arnwine will remain in an advisory role through the end of 2024

Nashville, TN – Kyle D. Phillips will move from the position of Assistant Executive Director to the role of Executive Director, effective immediately. The Chi Psi Executive Council and The Chi Psi Educational Trust will formally introduce Phillips as the Executive Director at this summer’s 183rd Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Phillips becomes the 15th Executive Director of Chi Psi Fraternity, after two years of assisting Harold G. Arnwine, the previous Executive Director.

“Brother Phillips has worked at every level of the Chi Psi Central Office since being hired in 2016,” says David O. Woodruff, Chairman of the Chi Psi Executive Council. “His experience as an Extension Specialist, Alpha Visitor, Alumni Engagement Coordinator, and, most recently, Assistant Executive Director, will prove invaluable as he leads the staff in his new position. We are excited to elevate Brother Phillips to Executive Director and look forward to continued excellence and a bright future for Chi Psi.”

Phillips brings more than eight years of Chi Psi Central Office experience to the role. He has served as an Assistant Executive Director under the last two Executive Directors, Brothers Arnwine and Samuel C. Bessey. Phillips joined the Fraternity as a student at North Carolina State University and graduated in 2016. As an Extension Specialist, he helped revive Alpha Psi at Cornell University and rebuilding Alpha Eta Delta at the University of Oregon.

“Chi Psi has been a major part of my personal and professional life since I entered college,” says Phillips. “To say that I am honored, humbled, and excited to serve as the Executive Director of an organization I cherish is an understatement. I truly appreciate the guidance provided to me by former Executive Directors and the ongoing collaboration with dedicated members of the staff, many of whom I’ve had the pleasure of serving next to for years.”

As the Central Office “jack-of-all-trades” over his tenure in the Central Office so far, Phillips has handled high-level tasks like the development of the Alpha Success Advisor (ASA) program, leading the Outdoor Leadership Program (OLP), creating the organization’s 10-Year Strategic Vision, and becoming a crucial resource for budgetary, recruitment, membership, and risk management efforts. Arnwine will stay on in an advisory capacity to assist with the transition until the end of the 2024 calendar year.

“This is the honor of a lifetime to serve as Executive Director,” says Phillips. “I look forward to continuing the work of Brothers Bessey and Arnwine and our outstanding staff, and carrying the positive momentum of Chi Psi into the future. “
