Chi Psi Fraternity Welcomes 53rd Alpha
Brothers of Alpha Nu Tau (Florida State) were officially initiated in October.
October 30, 2024 | Nashville, TN – On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Chi Psi Fraternity welcomed its newest Alpha when the men of Alpha Nu Tau at Florida State University were initiated into the Fraternity.
The ceremony officially marks the installation of Chi Psi’s 34th active Alpha. The group was a Candidate Alpha until being unanimously approved for full Alpha status at last summer’s 183rd Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. All men in Alpha Nu Tau now enjoy full active membership in Chi Psi.
“We want to thank everyone who has supported us on the journey to becoming an official Alpha of Chi Psi,” says Alpha Nu Tau #1 (President) Justin Marimon, NT ’27. “It’s still very surreal to us all, but we know the work we put in, and we knew it would pay off. That being said, this is just the beginning. We’re very excited to see what’s to come, and know that we won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Continue the support, and we’ll continue pursuing lifelong excellence.”
Chi Psi #23 (Executive Director) Kyle Phillips, ΠΔ ’16, Ψ ’17, shared his excitement about the new group of Chi Psi men in Tallahassee.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome Alpha Nu Tau into the bonds of Brotherhood,” says Phillips. “Establishing our newest Alpha at Florida State University underscores Chi Psi’s commitment to fostering Brotherhood, leadership, and the pursuit of excellence.”
Alpha Nu Tau had been engaged in informal recruitment, considerable philanthropy, and attendance at national Chi Psi events since becoming a Candidate Alpha in 2023. The opportunity to extend Chi Psi’s presence to another excellent institution was a big reason for making the group a Candidate Alpha in the first place, but the men’s effort spoke for itself when a formal review and vote occurred.
“Having met the Founders of Alpha Nu Tau on several occasions, I am confident they will represent Chi Psi Fraternity exceptionally well and quickly begin serving as the model fraternal experience on Florida State’s campus,” says Phillips. “Their commitment to Chi Psi is infectious, and their excitement was immediately felt by numerous active Brothers and alumni, who traveled from all over the country to welcome them to the Brotherhood. Their attention to detail and impressive knowledge of Chi Psi history was felt by everyone who heard them petition for Alpha status at the 183rd Chi Psi Convention. I know Chi Psi is stronger and more prepared for the future after welcoming these men into our bonds.”
Florida State is the 53rd school to host an Alpha of Chi Psi. It is the second school located in Florida, after Alpha Mu Delta (Rollins College), which hosted the initiation for its newest Brothers.
