Lathrop B. Nelson III, OΔ '97, Spencer Properties Chairman
Lathrop lives in Philadelphia, PA, and is the Co-Chair of the White Collar and Government Investigations practice at the law firm Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads LLP. He represents corporate entities and individuals in all phases of government and internal investigations, as well as in complex commercial litigation. Immediately following his graduation from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2001, he was a law clerk for the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Lathrop is married and has a daughter and two sons.
While at Alpha Omicron Delta, Lathrop served as the #1 and the #4 of the Alpha and has served as President and Treasurer of the Alpha Omicron Delta Alumni Corporation, on which he still serves as a Director. For the National Fraternity, he was a founding member of Spencer Properties, LLC, and has served as Chairman of Spencer Properties since 2016. He previously served on the Chi Psi Executive Council, including as its Chairman, during which time he helped lead Chi Psi’s expansion and strategic planning efforts. Lathrop has served as the #6 of the 168th, 174th, and 175th Chi Psi Annual Conventions.
Outside of his involvement in Chi Psi, Lathrop has served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Washington and Lee Alumni Association. He has served as Rector’s Warden of the Vestry of St. Peter’s Church of Philadelphia and on the Board of Directors of the Committee of Seventy, a non-partisan, good government organization. He is currently a member of The Haverford School’s Alumni Executive Council.
