John W. Goodwin, B '71, Spencer Properties Board Member
John retired in 2014 from the industrial construction firm he had been a partner in since 1985. Although he was involved with the construction of many industrial plants and distribution centers throughout the Southeast, one of his most memorable projects was the construction of the new Beta Lodge in 2004. Working alongside a group of dedicated Beta alumni, he led the Design/Build project. The Chi Psi team was able to bring the project in on budget and on time.
As an undergraduate, John served as the #2 and represented Beta on the Interfraternity Council. He was involved in the quest for off-campus houses 30 years before it came to fruition. He holds a BS in Structures & Mechanics and a Master of Business Administration. He held a Professional Engineering License for 40 years.
He currently serves on the Board of Spencer Properties. He and his wife of 49 years, Deborah, split their time between homes in Columbia, SC, and Kiawah Island, SC. They enjoy spending time with their five grandchildren.
