David O. Woodruff, AΔ '81, Executive Council Vice-Chairman
Dave lives in Athens, GA, and has been married to his college sweetheart, Nancy, since 1982. They have four children; three daughters and a son ranging in age from 23 to 29. Although Dave’s career in the Employee Benefits industry began in 1981 after graduating from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Risk Management, he has continued his education throughout his career. He has earned the insurance industry professional designations Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) as well as completed numerous programs and studies through universities and industry organizations alike.
Dave is currently Sr. Vice President with McGriff Insurance Services, the fifth-largest insurance brokerage and consulting firm in the world. His career began with Great West Life, spending the first four years in Atlanta and the following five in Chicago before returning south and founding what ultimately became The A.I. Group. At the time The A.I. Group agreed to be acquired in 2015, it was the third-largest privately held Employee Benefits consulting firm in Georgia and one of the top 50 in the nation.
Dave’s concentration has been in the area of data analytics and how that information can be used to set the strategy and direction of his clients’ benefits plans while seeking to reduce their cost and improving members’ healthcare experience. Dave works primarily with large employers has clients stretching from coast to coast and border to border. He works with several Fortune 500 companies and other nationally known corporations.
Dave was his Pledge Class president and served as the Alpha Alpha Delta alumni advisor from 1990-2000. He remains active with the local alumni association and began serving on the Executive Council in 2016. Dave was recently re-elected to his second term on the Council and later named the Vice-Chairman. He has also been actively involved in his community, serving on numerous boards of local and national non-profit organizations as well as his church vestry over the past 25 years.
