Doug Buglewicz, Gamma `96
Doug Buglewicz, Γ ’96, lives in Water Valley, MS, where has been actively advising for Alpha Gamma since 1996. The current Alpha Gamma Advisory Board Chairman led Alpha Gamma through its recolonization and was recognized as University of Mississippi IFC Outstanding Chapter Advisor of the Year in 2014 and has been instrumental in helping Chi Psi develop training for alumni advisors.
He also leads the Program for Excellence Committee, which evaluates and helps develop Chi Psi’s programming, and volunteers as a Trust program facilitator. In the past, Br. Buglewicz has been a member and officer of the Alpha Gamma Alumni Association Corporation Board of Directors as well as chairman for the Alpha’s planning committee when it hosted the 159th Annual Convention. As an undergraduate he served as Kitchen Steward, Philanthropy Chairman, #3 and #2.
Buglewicz is a licensed professional counselor who works as Director of Community Support Services for the North Mississippi Regional Center. In this role he works with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them live their lives is their home communities rather than in institutions.
He is active with the Mississippi Chapter of the American Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with the Mississippi Gerontological Society, which he has served in multiple leadership positions. Buglewicz has also volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. In 2001, he was a member of a group of volunteer professionals chosen from around the country to develop a screening tool for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who were also showing signs of dementia as part of the National Alzheimer's Project Act.
“It is a great honor to serve on the Council - one I don't take lightly,” Doug tells us. He explains that while this is a very different role for him, he is looking forward to the chance to grow professionally and the help the Fraternity in a new way. He looks forward to continuing his work with the Program for Excellence Committee and bringing this work to the Council.
As such an active local volunteer, Buglewicz brings a unique perspective to the Council as someone who had truly experienced many of the greatest initiatives Chi Psi has launched in the past few years. He is looking forward to speaking with more Brothers from across the country to hear their ideas for improving services to both undergraduates and alumni alike.
