|The Arch: Advisory Board Update|
When a group of interested Alpha Delta alumni met in the fall of 2010 to discuss resurrecting Chi Psi at UGA, representatives from the fraternity’s Central Office said, quite firmly, that any effort would not succeed unless Alpha Delta alumni established a viable alumni advisory board. They gave many reasons, but principally that recent colonization and re-colonization efforts were successful only when backed by a strong alumni advisory board. History has proved that when an Alpha fails it is because the undergraduates did not have the guiding hand of an involved advisory board. We agreed, and Alpha Alpha Delta of Chi Psi Advisory Board, Inc. was formed in 2011.
The Alpha Delta Advisory Board supports the undergraduates’ experience through advising, coaching and mentoring activities. Alumni Board members assist the undergraduates in managing the Alpha’s finances and general Alpha administration while advising the Alpha’s officers and overseeing recruitment and pledge education to ensure a positive Alpha experience. One of the Board’s most vital roles is communication with alumni. Alumni often withdraw when not kept informed of Lodge activities, and unfortunately we have seen that at Alpha Delta. Your Board is committed to reversing that trend. This newsletter is tangible evidence of that commitment.
