Steve Nerland, HΔ '72, Wins an Alaska Sports Hall of Fame inaugural Directors' Award

At a ceremony in February, Steve Nerland, HΔ '72, became one of the first ever winners of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame's Joe Floyd Award, an award established to recognize those individuals who make lasting and significant contributions to Alaska sports.

This is the Br. Nerland was chosen by the Hall of Fame's eight-person Board of Directors for his involvement in American Legion baseball as well as his contributions to the development of fields at the South Anchorage Sports Complex and recent renovations at Mulcahy Stadium.

He is also honored for his recent efforts championing the construction of a new arena at University of Alaska Anchorage, convincing state lawmakers in Juneau to provide $50 million in support of the project.
