AXIS Insurance Chief Underwriting Officer John A. Kuhn, A '86, Receives 2011 PLUS1 Award

The Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) is pleased to announce that John "Jack" Kuhn is the recipient of the 2011 PLUS1 Award.
An industry veteran with over 25 years of professional lines experience, Mr. Kuhn has risen to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer for AXIS Insurance. In this position, he has responsibility for Professional Lines and Property & Casualty insurance operations worldwide. He sets underwriting policy, provides strategic direction and oversees new business initiatives. Prior to becoming CUO for AXIS Insurance, Mr. Kuhn had been CEO of AXIS Insurance's North America Division. He has served as Global Practice Leader for AXIS Professional Lines since 2003 when this business was established through a renewal rights transaction with Kemper. Formerly, Mr. Kuhn had been President of Kemper Financial Insurance Solutions and was one of the founders of that unit in 1999. He also previously held management and underwriting positions within Chubb's Executive Protection/Executive Risk department.
A long-time member of PLUS, Mr. Kuhn joined the Society in 1995 and served on the PLUS Board of Trustees from 2003 through 2009. He is a frequent speaker and attendee at the PLUS International Conference and the PLUS D&O Symposium.

The PLUS1 Award is given annually to an individual who has contributed substantively to the advancement of the image of the professional liability industry. It was first awarded in 1989.
