Chi Psi Fraternity has become a Titanium Sponsor of HazingPrevention.Org for 2011-2012. The organization's National Sponsorship demonstrates its commitment to hazing prevention among hundreds of Brothers in Alphas located on 29 college and university campuses throughout the United States.
HazingPrevention.Org is dedicated specifically to empowering people to prevent hazing in college and university student groups. A non-profit organization, HazingPrevention relies upon the support of annual sponsors and donors to provide education, develop resources and build partnerships with other organizations and businesses who demonstrate a commitment to hazing prevention.
"Without the generous support of sponsors like Chi Psi, we would be unable to fulfill our mission,” Tracy Maxwell, executive director of HazingPrevention.Org, said. "This is the first time Chi Psi has sponsored us, and we are honored that they have chosen to support the work we do.”
National Hazing Prevention Week and the Novak Institute for Hazing Prevention and Education are HazingPrevention.Org's signature programs. The organization also offers educational webinars, publications, national awards programs and a wealth of other resources, including a comprehensive and interactive website, http://www.hazingprevention.org/.
Chi Psi was founded on May 20, 1841 at Union College in Schenectady, New York. The eighth fraternity founded in the United States and the fifth at Union itself, Chi Psi was unique, being the first fraternity to be founded upon principles of brotherhood and as a social fraternity. Chi Psi has many firsts in the fraternity world: the first fraternity house (or Lodge) in 1846, the first full-time traveling leadership consultant and an educational program that supplements the formal curriculum of college life. Chi Psi's Program for Excellence helps Brothers understand the challenges they face, and how to advance their lives intellectually, morally, and socially. The mission of HazingPrevention.Org is to empower people to prevent hazing in college and university student groups.
