Central Office Flies University of South Carolina Flag
For the second year in a row, the Central Office has flown the University of South Carolina flag in recognition of the most recent national championship at a Chi Psi school. The Brothers of Alpha Beta presented the flag pictured above to the Fraternity in honor of the University of South Carolina National Championship Baseball Team.
With a 5-2 victory over Florida, the Gamecocks won their second consecutive NCAA championship, becoming the sixth program to repeat as national title holders along with Texas, Southern Cal, Stanford, LSU and Oregon State.
South Carolina also set an NCAA record by winning their 16th consecutive tournament game, breaking the record set by Texas in 1983-84. And by winning their 11th consecutive CWS game, the final six last season and all five this season, they broke the record set first by Southern Cal in 1972-74 and duplicated by LSU in 1996-98.
A tradition begun in 2010, the Central Office flies the flag of a host institution that wins a national championship and takes a photo of it and Jeffrey Hall. A digital image is sent to the Alpha and is posted at www.chipsi.org. Alphas in a position to participate should send a 3' x 5' flag to Jeffrey Hall, 45 Rutledge Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37210.
