The Central Office has received and flown the Northwestern University flag in recognition of the most recent national championship at a Chi Psi school. The Brothers of Alpha Epsilon Delta presented the flag pictured above to the Fraternity in honor of the Northwestern University National Championship Debate Team.
Northwestern won the 2011 National Debate Tournament by defeating Emory on a 4-1 decision. The championship boosts Northwestern's nation leading title count to 14. Northwestern was the only squad with three teams in the top 16 at the tournament. All three pairs entered the tournament ranked in the top ten based on season long performance.
The Central Office flies the flag of a host institution that wins a national championship and takes a photo of it and Jeffrey Hall. A digital image is sent to the Alpha and is posted at www.chipsi.org. Alphas in a position to participate should send a 3' x 5' flag to Jeffrey Hall, 45 Rutledge Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37210. Begun in 2010, Alpha Epsilon Delta is the third to take advantage of this new Chi Psi tradition.
Seems likely that it will be a while before another debate program even ties the 14 championships by the Northwestern program, much less passes the men and women in purple! More likely never!
