Five years ago, Tyler Brantley, Tau Delta ’09, teamed up with his older brother and father to respond to a common pattern they saw in the community around them—young men were struggling on the journey to manhood. From early middle school to post collegiate life, males are wandering in the search for identity, focus, meaning, and personal power in their lives. In response, Brother Brantley and his family began a retreat series focused on helping young men build meaningful relationships with their fathers and male mentors. Their goal: To empower a new generation of strong healthy men to be leaders in their families, work, communities, and the world.
Today, their business, BAM (Becoming A Man) Adventures has grown into one of the most successful father-son retreat series in the country and is centered around a combination of action packed weekend adventures and a unique curriculum that allows fathers and sons to cut through barriers and talk about the issues at heart. In August, BAM Adventures has been chosen to serve our military families and lead 175 active duty military fathers and sons on an unforgettable adventure. These fathers are away from home over half year, and the United States Military has called on BAM Adventures to help fathers and sons use the time they do have together to forge stronger bonds.
