This September, Omicron Delta once again entered a team in the Annual Marine Mud Run in Roanoke, VA. The Mud run is a charitable 5-kilometer race in which the entry fees go to help fund the Toys for Tots program run by the United States Marine Corp. The race itself consists of overcoming an obstacle course, running 100 meters upstream in the Roanoke River, and crawling through a giant mud pit; all teams must finish together, holding hands. The Alpha believed "that overcoming such challenges while finishing together was representative of the brotherhood and the special bonds that we have cultivated." The Alpha was one of two Greek letter organizations to participate in the event. Five Brothers (seniors Dima Slavin (#1) and Todd Rubel, junior Brian Devine (#3), and sophomores Adrian Tapia and Alex Uhlir) ran the race in the Alpha record-setting time of 29:27. This earned them fourth place in the men’s division. The impressive performance in the Mud Run led into a successful Homecoming weekend. The Alpha’s Homecoming Queen nominee finished in second overall, highest among all Greek-letter organizations. Alumni turnout at the Lodge was the greatest it has been in recent memory, which helped to ensure the success of the event from a recruitment perspective as well. Overall, the state of the Alpha is in good condition and seems to be heading towards unprecedented heights.
