Chi Psi's Program for Excellence Taking OffEach Alpha holds the values of Chi Psi in high regard. We seek to live out those values in our individual lives and through the entire Brotherhood. Yet many times, it is hard to translate those values into Fraternity events and the daily lives of our Brothers. But now, the Program for Excellence provides a framework and model through which to plan, organize, and carry out events to do just that.
That is how Sigma #1 John Gwin ’14 describes the Program for Excellence to his fellow undergraduates and alumni Brothers.
The Program for Excellence has been a Chi Psi buzzword of sorts for several decades, but it is quickly becoming so much more than the abstract idea it once was. Today, the Program for Excellence has become the primary recruitment tool in Chi Psi’s various extension projects, and Alphas are utilizing its concepts in new, creative ways as they pursue excellence.
Online Guide to the Program for Excellence Launches
The Program for Excellence may have been the focus of recent Spencer Institute, Mid-Year Leadership Retreat and Rower Regional Leadership Conference programming, but we know that without concrete materials for undergraduates to take back to their Alphas, none of this education will ever truly stick.
With that in mind, this January, the Central Office launched the Online Guide to the Program for Excellence. This interactive online resource provides Alphas with tools to implement the Program for Excellence as well as a comprehensive event planning guide; however the most exciting aspect of this new resource is the catalog of event descriptions provided.
Good News from The Chi Psi Educational Trust
Mid-Year Leadership Retreat in Their Words
This year's third annual Mid-Year Leadership Retreat brought in 32 undergraduate Brothers from across the country. In this article, you'll get to hear all about the retreat from the participants themselves.
Regional Conferences in Review
No two Alphas are the same. That makes planning Rowe Regional Leadership Conferences that meet the needs of Alphas across the country quite a challenge. For that reason, this year our host Alphas were given the freedom and support to build out conferences to best suit the wants and needs of Alphas in their regions’.
This issue of The Purple and Gold features a number of alumni news stories including features on Rotary International General Secretary, John Hewko, Phi '79, and his recent visit to the Central Office in Nashville; young Phi Brothers Josh Kunkel '04 and Kevin Bourque '04 and their new company Outeru, Pi Bother Peter Mugford '11 for his successful apparel companies and several more.
